I scream, you scream
yesterday, as you may or may not know, was the day that Ben and Jerry’s (they make ice cream) free cone day(!!!), except that in one case, the manager was a big, fat meanie pants, and ended it early (sort of defeats the point, doesn’t it?).
Not to be outdone, but Baskin Robbins (remember them?) is offereing a 31-cent scoop night from 5pm-10pm.
Get you some!

Everything but the kitchen... links?
I was wondering where all those cheap Free Tibet flags were being made…
Apparently, this wasp (not WASP) is a little confused.
Yay Pictures!
It isn’t all sunshine and orchids, though. Rice and flour are becoming harder to find and, apparently, you shouldn’t complain too much or you might get arrested.

Hannah Hannah bo Bannah
I only have a vague idea of “who” Hannah Montana is, but I have a decent idea of “what” she is, and after reading an article about a “revealing” picture that was taken of “her” I have an even better idea. Apparently, “she” is a role-model to young children everywhere who live in the suburbs and is backed by Disney. “She” also,...

The Best 43:13 minutes of television ever?
You may have heard about this event that happened recently: Members of the Writers Guild of America went on strike, eventually halting the influx of new television shows or movies. I more or less believe this ended up being a good thing for many reasons.
Generally speaking, I don’t watch television. I’ve been known to watch some sporting events, but as far as weekly entertainment, my...

Obama, Obama, Obama!
An interesting conversation between the Pennsylvania governor and what appears to be a group of college students. Ed Rendall a) accuses Obama of saying and not doing and b) accuses college students of drinking his Kool-aid. a) is kind of valid, though the students point out a thing or two that he has done, but b) is WAY out there. Kool-aid? Really?

Fun Links for the Day
My afternoon coffee is actually not dehyrdating.
“Tragically Uncrunk” and five other shenanigans pass off as art.
A microcosm of the American economy in the story of a clothing manufacturer (I am assuming the author meant “United States’”).

Onionesque
Ok, so I promise this will be the last Kansas link I’ll post for a while (with the exception of any Bill Self related links), but this is just too good: Hilary Declares Memphis National Champions. Reads like an Onion article.
An actual onion article about paper

Adirondacks
I was sitting with a family at dinner tonight. The boy was wearing a t-shirt from the Adirondack Mountains. It was a pretty cool looking shirt (it had leaves arranged in the shape of a hiking boot!), so I asked him about it (he’s in kindergarten, I think). After some probing from mom, he said he got it from his grandmother. I then asked him if he knew the words on it. He knew...

Subtext
Interesting subtext in the Memphis vs. Kansas game. Before this season started, Memphis was recruiting (and had commitments from) two towering post players (who happen to be twins): Marcus and Markieff Morris. They committed and decommitted from Memphis twice so that they could go to prep school. Then, they signed with Kansas for next season. Would the outcome have been different if they had...

Rock Chalk Money Talks
My Jayhawks are national champions after playing one of the most exciting and best title games in history. My respect for Memphis grew throughout the season, and I think that it was only until the Davidson game, that Kansas really understood how good they were.
Wouldn’t be interesting, though, if the biggest news in Kansas basketball this week wasn’t their first title in twenty years,...

True Hoops
Kevin Durant and Jeff Green (ballers) decide to take a break from basketball to go back to school. Notable in part because they are both rookies.
And while I’m talking about basketball, you’ll probably want to watch this video of Kevin Love (Freshman manchild at UCLA) “shooting” the basketball. Then, go and see how far you can throw a chest-pass, then go and see how trying...

Zero Punctiation. An Brit living in Australia mercilessly reviewing video games in a fast-paced, no-holds-barred fashion, with hilarious animations. I also happen to agree with him about the state of the industry. Hilarious even if you don’t like video games (I haven’t played a single one of the games he’s reviewed, for instance).

and they sound like children trapped in a lie
I don’t even know where to begin with this. How about with J.S. Simon, Exxon, speaking about his $40 billion profit last year amid huge tax breaks and soaring oil prices:
“Our earnings, although high in absolute terms, need to be viewed in the context of the scale and cyclical, long-term nature of our industry as well as the huge...

April 1st
Since I get so much news from the internet (about 90-95% of my weekly news intake, which I feel is pretty substantial), I find April Fools Day particularly annoying.
Anyway, here are some interesting, true (I think) things from today.
