It is pronounced “turn-a-ment” or even “tour-na-ment,” but definitely not “tore-na-ment.” Yes, I realize it is somewhat of a personal preference, but this is one that really annoys me.
New rule: if you are a video game maker who makes a game with an “Auto Save” feature that doesn’t save things automatically, you have to call it something else. That way, when someone playing your game for an extended amount of time doesn’t save anything, he isn’t surprised to find out that nothing that he had done over the last few hours counts for anything. MLB 09: The Show, I’m looking right at you. (Turns out it was a daylight savings time error, everything’s fine)
If you are going to be into bracketology (the science of predicting what a group of diverse people with diverse interests are going to do when making difficult decisions under pressure) then get upset that your favorite mid-major didn’t make the tournament field, you better be able to explain why. Note: beating other mid-major teams doesn’t count, but beating four other tournament teams does.
