Jack Black. Mos Def. That was pretty much enough to get me to the theatrem and the hilarity of those two remaking old movies was enough to get me absolutely giddy about it. Nor was I disapointed.
What I wasn’t expecting however, was a deft commentary on building community, fostering creativity wherever, and the utter stupidity of laws that claim to protect artists but actually pad studio’s wallets.
If you care about movies or communities, then go see this movie (that is, if you wouldn’t have seen it because of either Mos Def or Jack Black).
Lucky Number Slevin has to be one of my favorite movies ever. I’ve listed just a few of the great quotes from the movie. There are more, to be sure. It isn’t just the quotes, though, that make the movie good. The structure is excellent, it is a good story, it has a great cast, and they reference the Shmoo. Come on.
