Sorry I’ve been intermittent in my posting. Things are busy here, I was in Santa Monica last weekend, and I’m getting ready to be gone for 8 days in the wilderness. Hopefully, I’ll get some pictures up at some point, but no promises.
Another reason I’ve been posting less is because I’ve been using google reader to keep track of links I want to remember. I can probably figure out a way to add things that interest me to this blog automatically… I’ll get back to you all on that.
(Update: I think I just got that to work. Now I just need to find an item I want to star…)

and they sound like children trapped in a lie
I don’t even know where to begin with this. How about with J.S. Simon, Exxon, speaking about his $40 billion profit last year amid huge tax breaks and soaring oil prices:
“Our earnings, although high in absolute terms, need to be viewed in the context of the scale and cyclical, long-term nature of our industry as well as the huge investment requirements”
But when pressed on spending more money on investments into alternative sources of energy while eliminating existing tax breaks:
“Imposing punitive taxes on American energy companies, which already pay record taxes, will discourage the sustained investment needed to continue safeguarding U.S. energy security”
while also saying:
current alternative energy technologies “just do not have an appreciable impact” in addressing “the challenge we’re trying to meet.”
J.S. Simon, you are my least favorite person for the day.

I’m not certain which is worse, that I wore six different shirts today, or that I am not going to clean any of them. Maybe that isn’t even a bad thing.
Played Scrabble with the (unofficially) Chattanooga Scrabble Club (1st and 3rd Wednesdays at Rock Point Books). Got killed in my first game. Truthfully, the guy I was playing must have thought I was twelve and it was my first try at the game- I simply kept getting bad racks (and he was pretty good)- and then I won the following two matches.

It is really gratifying to walk into a room whose light you switched off when you left (but whose light was on when you entered) and then to return to that run much later to find the light off.
Baby steps.

Vertical Farm = good use of space and locally grown food. Bad news- there isn’t any water in Las Vegas…
