Looking goofy for the camera.
This was just a test shot using tumbleweed, which is an Adobe Air “program” that lets you work with tumblr. Joy!

Kind of what it sounds like. Also, amazing.

My adventures through Knoxville

I’m trying to buy a lens for my new camera, specifically, a Nikon 18-55mm VR because I want to take pictures with the new camera this weekend. The trouble is that I can’t order online and get it today (next-hour shipping hasn’t quite been invited yet). It sells for $179 online, but that doesn’t include shipping. So I deicded to see if Wolf Camera (who I don’t really like) sells them. There are three of them in Chattanooga, so I called them in order of proximity. The first two conversations went sort of like this:
Wolf Camera: “Wolf Camera, this is so-and-so”
Me: “Hi so-and-so. I am checking to see if you have a particular lens in stock.”
Wolf Camera: “…”
Me: “It is the Nikon 18-55mm VR”
Wolf Camera: “Let me check… no, we don’t have it. Sorry.”
I wasn’t optimistic, but needed to follow through. The last conversation went like this:
Wolf Camera: “Wolf Camera, this is so-and-so”
Me: “Hi so-and-so. I am checking to see if you have a particular lens in stock.”
Wolf Camera: “Sure! Which one is it?”
Me: “It is the Nikon 18-55mm VR”
Wolf Camera: “We sure do.”
Yay. $199 is totally worth being able to take pictures this weekend. (Look forward to that). More to the point, I was so pleased with the woman on this end of the phone. Sounds like she actually cares about her job. It made me happy.
